Trees to Plant

trees to plant

We are expecting to have a wide variety of trees/shrubs available to plant and will be looking for voluteers to help with planting in the spring of 2011.

Tree Tips from Anne the Tree Lady at SWCD

Trying to save an injured tree:
- Prune broken branches (don't prune too much though, because the tree will need all the leaves to get through the next growing season!)
- If the trunk is split and more than 50% of the crown is gone, it may not survive... but make sure to give the tree time to recover from the stress! It might surprise you!

Premature browning this fall:
Those of you out there noticing some (aspen/poplar) trees turning brown prematurely this fall- don't worry too much. Most of them are only turning brown because they're stressed (soooo much water this year) so they drop their leaves as a defense mechanism.

Here is the list of trees we expect to have available for planting in the spring. Click on the links for each species to learn more about them.
